Our Roofing Services in Provo, UT

Roof Replacement
Pitch decides most of this job. Utah Valley builders framed steep so roofs would shed, and they do.

Roof Leak Repair
Leaks on a steep roof are almost never in the middle of a slope. Water moving forty feet down a 10:12 has no time to find a nail hole.

Storm Damage Restoration
Utah Valley gets two damage seasons and they break roofs differently. Late winter and spring load a roof with heavy wet snow, then melt it over three warm days.

Hail Damage Roofing
Utah Valley is not hail alley, and pretending otherwise sells product nobody needs. Hail arrives here in small summer cores, usually pea to marble, occasionally larger along the bench.

Wind Damage Roofing
Wind in Provo comes down, not across. Cold air drains out of Rock Canyon and Provo Canyon and strikes the east bench as a downslope gust while the west side of the valley stays calm.

Roof Inspections
Two visits a year fit this valley. One before the snow comes and one after the melt.

Asphalt Shingle Roofs
Asphalt covers most of Utah Valley for good reasons. On a 9:12 or steeper slope a laminated shingle sheds water fast, holds a snow load without the ponding a flatter roof collects, and costs a fraction of the alternatives per square installed.

Metal Roofing
This is the page where we argue with the customer. Standing seam is an excellent roof and a genuinely poor idea over a Provo entryway unless you pay for engineered snow retention alongside it.

Tile Roofing
Tile is a minority roof in Utah Valley and the reasons are worth hearing before you buy one. Concrete tile is heavy, brittle in a slide path, and costs more to walk for maintenance than any covering we service.

Flat & Low-Slope Roofing
Almost nobody in Utah Valley has an entirely flat roof, and almost everybody has some. The porch cover, the shed dormer over a bedroom, the addition off the back, the carport.

Roof Coatings & Sealing
A coating is a maintenance product, not a roof. Silicone or acrylic over a sound low-slope membrane or an existing metal roof can add years and cut summer heat gain.

Roof Ventilation
Ridge vents in Provo spend part of every winter buried. A foot of settled snow across the peak stops the exhaust, the attic warms, and the roof begins working against itself.

Skylights
Placement is the whole conversation on a Provo skylight. A unit set in the middle of a 10:12 slope with forty feet of roof above it is sitting in a chute, and every winter the pack coming down that chute arrives at the curb carrying real momentum.

Gutters & Downspouts
A gutter under a steep Provo roof is a length of aluminum sitting directly in the path of everything that comes off it. That is the design problem.

Fascia & Soffit
Fascia on a steep roof is structural, and everyone treats it as trim. It carries the gutter, it absorbs the hit when a load comes off the slope, and on a great many Utah Valley houses it is a 2x6 of ordinary pine with paint on it and nothing else.

Chimney Flashing
A chimney is a dam in the middle of a slope. Everything moving down the roof stops on its uphill side and stays there, which is why more of our leak calls begin at a chimney than anywhere else, and why the fix is usually framing rather than caulk.

Emergency Tarping
Tarping a 10:12 roof in a January storm is a different job from tarping a low-slope deck. There is nowhere to stand, the surface is wet or glazed, and a tarp that is merely laid down and weighted will be in a neighbor's yard by morning.

Commercial Roofing
Commercial roofs in Provo fail at parapets and tall walls, and the reason is drift. Wind pushes snow across a large low-slope field and stacks it against every vertical obstruction, so the load against a parapet runs several times what the open field carries.

Insurance Claim Help
Snow and ice losses work differently from wind and hail, and most owners here learn that at the worst moment. Weight of ice and snow is a named peril on a standard homeowner policy, but it covers sudden damage from a load, not deterioration that took four winters to arrive.
Provo Roof Pros is a licensed, insured roofing contractor in Provo, Utah, handling roof replacement, roof leak repair, storm and wind damage restoration, asphalt shingle and metal roofing, tile relay work, low-slope membrane sections, gutters and roof ventilation for homes, student rentals and commercial buildings throughout Utah Valley. We are on Provo roofs daily and across the rest of the valley on schedule.
Utah Valley roofs are framed steep because they are built to shed, and that single fact decides most of what we specify. Architectural and SBS-modified laminate shingles, 24-gauge standing seam over high-temperature underlayment, concrete tile on elevated battens, 60-mil TPO and EPDM on flat sections, self-adhered ice barrier at every eave, and synthetic underlayment across the whole deck. Each of those is chosen for a slope that moves its own snow.
The part most quotes leave out is where the snow goes once it lets go. Every proposal we write marks the slide path, names the front walk, driveway, gas meter and condenser sitting under it, and prices the pad guards or seam-clamped rails that keep the load where it belongs. Free inspections, written scopes, and a straight answer when a repair beats a replacement.
What Provo Customers Say
Two other bids priced a full replacement. These guys got on the roof, found the step flashing at the dormer had been face-nailed, and fixed that instead. Cost me a fraction of what I was expecting and the ceiling stain has not come back.
They showed up with a drawing of where the snow comes off our roof and it landed exactly on the walk to the front door, which is where I had fallen the winter before. Guards went in with the new shingles. That whole conversation was new to me.
Talked me out of a metal roof, honestly. Explained what it would cost to add the rails to keep snow off the driveway and said the money was better spent on a better shingle and guards. Not what I expected from a roofing company.
A slide took the gutter off the back of the house and folded the furnace cap. They tarped nothing because nothing was open, documented all four items, and had it repaired in a week. The photo file they sent made the claim straightforward.
Why Provo Chooses Provo Roof Pros
- ✓Every proposal includes a slide-path drawing that marks the entries, walkways, driveways, gas meters and condensers sitting under each slope.
- ✓Ice barrier is measured up the slope rather than across the plan, so the membrane actually reaches 24 inches inside the warm wall on a 10:12.
- ✓Snow guards are laid out by row and fastened into the deck, never set on adhesive alone.
- ✓We quote the flashing repair when a flashing repair is the answer, and we put the reason in writing rather than in a sales pitch.
- ✓Intake and exhaust are counted in square inches of net free area for your attic, not assumed from the length of a ridge.
- ✓Crews work off roof anchors and rope on anything over 8:12, which is most of this valley.
About Provo Roof Pros in Provo, UT
Provo Roof Pros works Provo and the length of Utah Valley, from Alpine and American Fork down through Orem, Springville and Spanish Fork to Payson and Santaquin, plus Heber City and Midway over the pass. Steep-slope residential is the core of it: replacement, leak repair, storm work, ventilation, gutters and the snow retention that ties all of it together.
The way we work comes out of one observation. Roofs here are built to shed, and almost nobody prices what happens when they do. So the first thing we produce is not a shingle sample, it is a drawing of where the load goes and what is standing underneath it. Everything else on the estimate follows from that drawing, and you keep a copy.
There are jobs we are the wrong company for. If you want the cheapest number on a roof with eight years left in it, we will quote the repair and you will find a lower replacement price elsewhere. If you want a coating sprayed over failing shingles, we will not do it. And if a slope is genuinely fine, we will tell you and charge you nothing for the visit.
How It Works
- 1
Free Inspection, On the Roof
We set anchors and walk the roof rather than reading it from a ladder. Every slope gets photographed, the guard pads get pulled on by hand, valleys and chimney backs get cleared enough to see, and the attic gets checked from inside for daylight, damp sheathing and blocked soffit vents.
- 2
A Slide-Path Drawing With Your Estimate
You get a simple roof plan showing which slopes shed where, with the front walk, driveway apron, gas meter, condenser and any deck marked underneath. Retention rows are drawn on that plan and priced as their own line, so nothing about the snow is left to be discovered in February.
- 3
Tear-Off, Deck Repair and Ice Barrier
Old covering comes off to the deck the same day it starts. Soft sheathing and rotten rafter tails get replaced and counted on the invoice. Self-adhered ice barrier runs from the eave to the measured line up the slope, and we photograph it before any underlayment covers it up.
- 4
Covering, Retention and a Final Walk
Underlayment, drip edge, starter, field, hips and ridge, then the guards go on in the rows we drew. We magnet-sweep the drive and lawn, walk the finished roof with you from the ground, and hand over the photo set, the permit sign-off and the workmanship warranty.

Commercial Roofing in Provo and Across Utah Valley
We roof and maintain student housing blocks and apartment buildings near campus, downtown properties along Center Street with old parapets and internal drains, retail and restaurant roofs on the University Avenue corridor, and warehouse and shop buildings out through East Bay and the airport area. Drift loading against parapets and taller walls drives the specification on nearly all of them, and phasing around tenants and term dates drives the schedule.
- ✓60 and 80 mil TPO and EPDM, fully adhered or mechanically attached
- ✓Two-ply modified bitumen where a torch-free asphalt system suits the deck
- ✓Structural standing seam with seam-clamped retention on steep-sloped commercial
- ✓Tapered polyiso, crickets behind every curb, internal drains with real overflows
- ✓Thicker board and tighter fastening in parapet and tall-wall drift zones
- ✓Twice-yearly maintenance agreements with a written condition report and photographs
- ✓Night, weekend and section-by-section phasing so tenants keep a dry unit
- ✓Liability and workers' compensation certificates issued before the pre-job meeting

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I actually need snow guards in Provo, or is that an upsell?
It depends entirely on what sits below the slope. A roof that sheds into an open side yard needs nothing. A roof that sheds across the front walk, the driveway, the gas meter or a deck needs retention, and on a slick surface like standing seam it needs engineered rails rather than pads. We draw the path first and let the drawing answer the question, which sometimes means we quote you fewer guards than you expected.
How steep are roofs here, and does the pitch change what I pay?
Most of Utah Valley sits between 6:12 and 12:12, with the newer benches steeper than the older grid. Pitch changes the price twice. There is more roof area than the footprint suggests, because a 10:12 slope covers roughly 30 percent more surface than the plan area beneath it, and anything over 8:12 needs anchors, rope and roof jacks for the crew. Both belong on the estimate as their own lines.
Is a standing seam metal roof a good idea on a Provo house?
It is an excellent roof and a real hazard over an entry unless you buy the retention with it. Painted panel has almost no friction, so the pack releases in one sheet rather than creeping off in pieces. Budget for seam-clamped pipe rails in two or three rows above anything you walk on or park under. If that hardware is what gets cut to make the budget work, buy architectural asphalt instead.
What does the ice barrier requirement mean on my roof?
The membrane has to reach a point 24 inches inside the exterior wall line, and that distance is measured along the slope. On a low-pitch roof one course covers it. On a 10:12 with a wide overhang it can take two or three, and that is where roofs get shorted. Ask any contractor how many courses they have allowed and how they arrived at the number.
When should I book to get the roof done before winter?
Call in spring or early summer for an autumn install. Shingle sealant strips need warmth to set, so a roof laid in late November has to be hand-sealed and still sits through its first winter with a weaker bond. We do install in cold weather when a roof cannot wait, and we say plainly what changes when we do. Repairs and tarping run all year.
Does homeowner's insurance cover snow and ice damage in Utah?
Weight of ice and snow is a named peril on most standard homeowner policies, so sudden damage from a load is usually covered. Gradual deterioration is not, and neither is damage traced to a maintenance failure. Damage from a slide, such as a torn-off gutter or a cracked skylight curb, is often covered but routinely underpaid because the roof itself still looks intact. Documentation is what decides it.
